I'm thinking of selling my S2 Elise due to taking up Golf and not being able to get the clubs in the car.. I was thinking of getting a 4x4 (Shogun), but not sure I want to loose the enjoyment of a sporty car.

Can anyone reccomend anything that is Sporty, Fun, good to drive, yet can get a minimum of 2 people and 2 sets of clubs in ( 3 of each would be a bonus)..

Budget of about £15-16k

it would have to be German to blend in with all the others in the golf club car park :)
If not, and you are used to shelling out money, try an Alfa V6 or check out the boot on an RX8

Golf v Lotus driving = no contest

Does it have to be 4*4? What about estates (as I'm looking at these atm)? Don't roll as much on corners either.

Subaru Legacy - AWD, 0-60 in 6 secs?
Volvo T5r - RWD though. 0-60 <6secs.

For 4*4's - is a disco3 in budget?
My uncle's got a good nissan thing - can't remember the model yet...(not the patrol, that I know).

I have to say it:

Volvo S60 T5 or even an R if you can find one second hand.

It's a barge, but it's a rocket and you'll get 4 people in there in leather lined comfort. Reviews will tell you that the boot is small, but it's not it just has a small apeture and you'd easily get 3 full sets of clubs plus trollies in there if you wanted.

The T5 does 0-60 in 6.5 and s 260bhp the R does it in 5.8 and is 300bph.

£500 for an ECU remap will add 50bhpish to each of them.

£15-16k should be able to get you 18month old one with every possible toy. Since their initial depreciation is much higher then Beemers they are a real bargain at this age.

Mine is FWD, but I can't remember if the newer ones are AWS or AWD, you'd have to check.

Blahdy Blahdy Blah! ;) :)

If you get a BMW 5 Series touring, you can put the elise in the boot too! :)

True, but for the money it's going to be either older or not as good.

Having a bimmer is great, but for me they are over priced second hand.

When I bought my Volvo (moving from a 3 series compact) the choice was:

Volvo S60T5SE with all mod cons and an engine that pulls like a train. Two and a half years old and 26k miles.

or

BMW 520i, four years old, basic interior and 75k miles.

It's not really a contest as far as I'm concerned.

Older, yes. Not as good, no chance.

Did you deliberately ignore all the 528's and 530's then?

If you have a tow bar, just buy a trailer to take the golf clubs in :p .
Or you could just put the golf clubs on the passenger seat :)
