As title would suggest.
I am currently in the market for a compact digital camera, and I have a few requirements.
(I am upgrading from my Minolta Dimage xi)

1. Takes good quality pictures (the obvious one of the lot :) )
2. Nice and relatively large screen in comparison to the size of the cam
3. Can take large memory cards (1-2 gig SD card)
4. Would be nice if I can buy a water casing for it in the future/or is waterproof.
5. Decent Zoom
6 Can take video clips for as long as i want/memory card allows, not just 30 seconds etc
Dont want to spend more than £300 for the cam

Thanks in advance :)

Hi mate,

Not sure why no-one has replied to this so far, I was about to post a similar question to be honest.
However, I say similar because I have narrowed a choice down to several cameras and I wanted opinions. So, from hours of walking up and down Tottenham Court road, reading Photography magazines etc etc I have a final list of the best compact cameras on the market (within a similar price bracket).

1.Panasonic Lumix FX8 5.0MP or FX9 6.0MP (With Leica Lens)
2.Olympus :mju 700 7.1MP
3.Richo Caplio R30 5.0MP
4.Canon Ixus 55 5.0MP
5.Pentax Optio S6 6.0MP
6.Kodak Easyshare V550 5.0MP (Schneider-Kreuznach Lens)

Any help to you?

1. Takes good quality pictures (the obvious one of the lot )
- No idea about this as it's new, but i'd assume that it will be good :)

2. Nice and relatively large screen in comparison to the size of the cam
- 3inch screen, doesn't look as though it could be much bigger!

3. Can take large memory cards (1-2 gig SD card)
- Yes

4. Would be nice if I can buy a water casing for it in the future/or is waterproof.
- No idea, but i'd have thought they'll be one

5. Decent Zoom
- 35-105mm, not huge, but it's a proper compact

6 Can take video clips for as long as i want/memory card allows, not just 30 seconds etc
- Yes
