Received my first negative recently out of 135 sales. I sold a phone and in the listing I stated that it was faulty and that the screen had recently been replaced with another one off eBay. Some guy won it and then a week later I get a negative saying "dont bid or buy abything from him. not describe properly".

I sent him a message asking what was wrong with the phone and he replied with...

Idiot said:
whu u ddint mension on list.. i phone is allrady changed screen brother i though faulty means ... i=may be battery is gone now u allready chaged and tried with some one..

Erm, what?

After many messages later, it appears he's mad because the screen was replaced and apparently he didn't know about it, despite it clearly stating it in the listing...

Is there any chance of ever getting the negative removed? I've asked him to change it but he wants £30, the cheeky ****.

Sigh. :o

Complain to eBay about inappropriate feedback. If you stated clearly in the description that the screen had been replaced, then the feedback he's left is inaccurate and against their feedback policy.

Just reply to it, saying changed screen is in the listing.

For me as long as the reply is sensible then I don't see it as a negative just a rubbish buyer, especially with that wording.

Yep, you can raise it with ebay somehow, not sure how but I know it's possible to have negative feedback removed if ebay believe it's been inappropriately given.

Mention Feedback extortion. They will read the messages and decide. As long as it was described in the listing, and they have said they never read it, you should be fine.

they will find a way around it to not bother removing the negative - seems to be the ebay way! just wait for the dispute to kick off and your money getting taken back...

You can't remove it unless you agree with him to do so. Your only other option is if he gets banned then the negative feedback will vanish.

I had a non-paying bidder who won an item of mine who I left negative feedback. He then bought another one of my items, paid for it just to leave me negative feedback in return.

Don't sweat it. Your feedback percentage is only calculated on feedback in the past 6 months, so it'll drop off soon enough. Leave a response explaining what happened, and any buyer with half a brain will see that it wasn't your fault. 1 transaction isn't going to kill any chance of you selling more stuff.

The reply you leave to negatives says more than the feedback itself. Especially when it is gibberish! As for the feedback percentage, it drops off after 12 months. Thats how long it is visible for.

eBay can and will remove negatives, they DO have the power, no matter what the CS reps tell you.

That's quite sad. I do hope he felt like he had won in the end!

Had the same thing happened to me, and what really annoyed me was he emailed me after he won asking if I could post it to him asap as he was going away on a long train journey, so I posted it that day first class recorded.

What a ****! some people can be, i even asked him why he gave me a negative and to change it but he didnt reply.
