Receiving calls from Advantis?

Not like it cost them anything to send a non existent letter to the wrong address. DVLA being numpties again - when chasing £0 then it's mega urgent.

So they're chasing £0? :D

Plus the costs of chasing £0, durr :D:p

Well despite the £0 cost of the tax I assume they are chasing the not being taxed for a month fine. All vehicles must have the correct tax issued or be SORN.

edit: SORN not SWORN

1/12th of £0 is still £0.

Which they sent to the wrong address, so the OP didn't know about it. Following that up with debt collectors making what appears to be a scam phone call to extract information from the unwary is just dumb...

Sworn in where?

But yes I think you're right. Much obliged for cocking up the spelling of SORN to even out the wrongness over my post and yours :p

Apparently it’s not about the cost of taxing, but the fact I didn’t do it :o

But yes, a little annoying.

I wasn’t sure what I expected when I called Advantis about it, but it certainly wasn’t “forgetting to acknowledge I don’t pay car tax” late :p

Had this the other month from a different company but almost exactly the same circumstances. Hadn't updated log book and had the car off the road for two week to have some work done for MOT. In that two weeks the tax was due in direct debit but didn't come out due to no MOT. Fast forward 6 months and I got a letter to my new address from a debt agency. Phones DVLA, they explained what had happened and adviced I pay the fine...fine was less than the cost of taxing the car though :D

But you were fortunate you didn't get pulled over by the cops or something right? Or even the local authorities can tow away untaxed cars? or is that the DVLA?

Amy of these kind of calls, I just hang up, or mostly don't even answer.

Sometimes when I've had a few I'll pick up the phone and start belting out some journey or something down the phone to them.

And I can't sing at the best of times, let alone trying to impersonate Steve Perry.

Well if OP had done that in this instance it could have resulted in a CCJ.
