hello

recently got 2x 36gb raptors to run in raid 0 along with a 500gb storage drive. Someone mentioned 72gb probably isnt that much space these days and thinking on it they might be right. Im putting vista on which is like 10gb, supreme commander is 10gb and just 1 game, steam with hl2 etc takes up a fair chunk like 5gb or something, office ultimate 2007 probably takes up loads. Im not a massive gamer but i do like future compatibility. Not sure if OC will let me but i was considering just returning the HDDs when i get them and swapping them for 2x 74gb raptor drives. Right now my total HDD usage for O.S/apps is about 50gb and thats windows xp and office 2003, although theres a bunch of crap ive collected over the years i dont need i suppose.

Ill stop giving my life story now the question is do people think 36gb raptor paired in raid 0 is more or less redundant now (yes the pun was intended cause im weak)

the whole point in getting them is to run games and the operating system fast along with 1 or 2 commonly used programs like ms office. Im not storing files like movies, music etc on there that would go on the larger 500gb HDD. I work for a company that sells electronic components and we have a policy that states anyone can return a part with a full refund within 7 days and i believe that is a legal requirement so when you say i shouldnt get it i think i should. Ill contact them tomorrow and see what the deal is. They are already getting 1.3k from me and now im gonna ask them to let me pay another £60 for higher spec HDDs so its not like im ripping them off. Overclocking a CPU and blowing it along with other components and then expecting replacement parts would be

Oh btw just noticed the comment about vista, im not buying it i am getting it for free (legally)

you need to have a controller card or a motherboard that supports raid, with either it will give you an option to set up the raid after the normal bios screen. I made another thread about HDD setup actually cause im having 3rd thoughts now about going to 7200.10 again (damn my feeble brain and its indecisivness)

yea i phoned ocuk the other day and they said its fine. After i have them i can phone their support and get a number to send it back so no problem at all. How quickly ill get the refund who knows, so long as i get it this month i guess
