Right guys I have just aqquired a projector to add to my room setup and have got the postiotion right so it projects infront of my bed. The only problem is this is where my wardrobes are.

I need to design and create a screen that i can attach to the top and roll down when needed and roll up when not needed. Needs to do the job look good at the cheapest possible price. I dont need anything fancy like the electronic ones you see.

Any ideas on fabric for the screen?

As I have said, I want the cheapest option possible and dont mind designing one. Also would like to design to the specific size I need...
 
You'd spend more money and time trying to remake one. Just pick up one or if you are really wanting to save some cash take a look on the usual places for a used one.
 
Screens can be made from Vinyl or blackout material.

I really don't know how you plan to buy the material and build a retractable mechanism for less than £40.

If he wants it simple id just buy a sheet, put two holes at both top corners, put some basic hooks in ceiling or where needed then put some weights on the bottom ends and hang it up, cant get any simpler than that.

Thats what I was thinking, exactly that, but i need to source the correct material at the right size, any ideas...
 
Have sorted out the projector screen.......roller blind at the right dimensions. Looks really good and rolls up nice. For £20 you cannot complain :D happy chappy
 
A sheet isn't a great solution anyhow you tend to get light scattering within the material and hard to get perfectly flat/taut so parts of the image are slightly warped.

Roller blind depending on the material could potentially be a decent enough alternative as they tend to be a little more rigid.

Yup this really does the job, pretty please with the result, I shall upload some pics if you guys want to see?
 
You could have bought an actual pull-down projector screen for £20 if you looked, there are loads. :p

In fact, I saw one for £5. :rolleyes:

There are even tonnes of electric ones around for £20. Up to 100" in fact. Around 30 which need a new plug attached or something, on a popular trading site.
