I’ve just bought a load of Shirataki noodles to try as part of lowering carb intake. I generally love noodles but have never tried these before. Just wondering if anyone else has and if they have any recommended recipes?
I've not tried them, but the general consensus is to thoroughly wash them, then dry fry them (to evaporate more of the weird flavour), then douse in sauce, which it will reabsorb to make it more noodle-like again.
Thanks. I've tried them for lunch a couple of days this week. They're definitely fishy out of the packet, but it doesn't take much washing to get rid of that. I've tried them mixed in with a simple stock broth and some vegetables and a little protein, and it does seem to provide a good bulk base at the cost of no calories or carbs. Not at all cheap though.
The correct method for preparation is wash, bring to boil in a pan of cold water. As soon as they start to boil, remove, wash again in cold water. Then add to whatever you are making.
