Recomend me a codec pack

KMP does not control MC

Thankfully no, it does not... KMP has a life.

Sorry, but, I am completely incapable of caring about Media Centre.

What does MC do that is so special?...

...Other than to let bone idle people use their remote controls that is?

if thats true then surely ffdshow will be the best solution, especially after its been configured for upscaling etc

as far as I'm aware ffdshow is the only true 64bit codec out there (they use it in both the vista and k-lite 64bit packs), the 32bit is also the most common basis for ALL these 32bit codecs packs. Most actually refer to the 64bit as work in progress still, what it works on is pretty good, but is nowhere near upto 32bit standards yet. This is also from my experiences so other people might have different results but the combination I use is the most stable and least troublesome for my setup - no issues with dvd playback (codecs made them jumpy) which was my main issue.

Acidhell2 - I get the option of thumbs from k-lite (32bit) too, I also use vista 64bit pack over the k-lite one as mentioned earlier due to it appearing to work better than the k-lite option.
You don't actually need the vista codec pack to get the thumbs, they come from the 64bit add on part anyway on 64bit - well I never got any thumbs without the 64bit add on.

so because i don't have a kb or mouse plugged in and i seet 10feet away from my 37" lcd with a remote in my hand makes me 'bone idle'?

just because you don't use it doesn't mean the op won't. using vista codec package + 64bit components covers all bases, not just what you use

what is your problem
