Hey all,

A few years back I decided to keep up with the times and get my first mobile phone. So naturally, I came running to OcUK, where I got an insane amount of help, and left more than content with my final recommendation of a £100 unlocked-K700i on an O2 Pay-as-you-go "300 free texts for £10 top-up a month".

However, it dawned on me recently that I'm regularly topping up £10 more often than the 30 days I had planed to, obviously due to the fact I'm making more and more calls on it these days - particularly lots of short ones. So I concluded- time for a re-look at the situation! :D

I'm guessing it's time to switch to contract - something I almost took up last time. I've done a little research on it, by popping into an O2 shop, where I saw the simplicity contract of £15 a month for 200 texts and 200 minutes, or if I did decide to take the opportunity to treat myself to a new phone £20 a month for 50 mins and 100 texts, both of which may have an option of either free UK texts (which I can see myself taking) or free O2 calls, but I'm not sure if those bonus applied to that level of payment. These offers are slightly better on the website - 200 mins and 400 texts + free 02 calls (for deffs there) on the simplicity, and 50 mins with 200 texts for £15 with phone (latter looks great).

Now basically, as I got such good help last time, I thought I'd put the question to the experts on here as to what I should do. I can probably make do with the 50 mins on the £20 contract and treat myself to a new phone, but I'd only really be inclined to do that if the phone was worth it, because the £15 a month would be a pleasant saving in comparison.

However, I haven't looked at any other networks, so please point out good deals with them. I'd also love to hear about special offers, phone recommendations, and advice on how to go about getting it - should I make use of online offers, or is it possible to haggle in store for even better deals?

All posts greatly appreciated! :D

I'd say have a look on the 3 (three) website, they have quite a few nice deals which you can either choose more minutes or texts on and get a semi decent handset on aswell.

£20 a month on an o2 contract wont get you any free o2-o2 calls or anytime/network texts....

tbh if you are looking to spend £20 a month then I wouldnt go into a 12/18m contract with a handset, as you hardly get any inclusive mins/texts..

If you are happy enough with your handset then id go for an online simplicity deal, £15... its a 1m contract and you can give 30 days notice to disconnect,

so I would try that out for now, see how you get along with the allowance, and then you can always change accordingly after 1 month

:)

3 = 500 minutes Talk & 100 texts for 20 quid a month. Also you can use MSN on your phone for free as well (fair usage is up to 6000 messages a month). You have a choice of 5 phones but i didn't look beyond the Sony Ericson K610i in Urban. Pretty much the same as my old W810i. You can buy extra texts etc for around a fiver & there is quite a bit of Free stuff to view on Free 3.
