I'm looking for a fighting game something on the lines of Mortal Kombat, street fighter, you get the idea. Nothing sticks out in my mind, any ideas anybody ?

I don't mind if its a little old as long as I can play it on Win XP.

Thanks

As far as I know there has NEVER been a decent 1 on 1 fighting game for the PC. It's seems to be a genre that it's either incapable of, or just has no market for.

That's just it - Street Fighter 2 is the only one I can think of - ever, & I doubt there's anyone who wouldn't rather play it on snes. I played the amiga street fighter 2 - 8 Discs !

as far as im aware street fighter n guilty gear are the only beat em ups worth bothing with on pc. Unless you have mame, though im unsure if we can talk about that on here so i'll leave it at that

It's amazing, seriously I loved it.

Had it on amiga on something like 12 discs. Had to change disc halfway through the intro movie, for each fight and for each fmv (Before and after fights).

Was so good :D

I'd recommend you get a Dreamcast. You can pick them up for next to nothing. There are some classic games available such as Marvel Vs Capcom 1 and 2, King of Fighters series, Capcom Vs SNK 1 and 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Powerstone 1 and 2. :)

Rise of the robots :)

lol... that was the first fighting game I ever bought. :D

Mortal Kombat 3 (with a good gamepad) was decent, but streetfighter I was also... though it seemed very slow compared to the console counterpart... especially the original. Super SFII was released on PC as far as i'm aware.

Pretty shameful that next-gen fighting games such as DOA haven't made it on to PC though... it's the perfect platform... especially with the myriad of joypad compatability apps/devices available. :(
