Hi

I need to get another HD to back up all my data - I'm thinking of getting an external HD but am not sure of which ones are the best.

There's the Western Digital My Book 3 1TB which seems ok? Any recommendations?

Looking for 1TB.

thanks
Raz

Assuming you want a USB2 drive pretty much anything would be fine. Buy on warranty and the price. The interface is the limiting factor so any 1TB HDD would be approx the same speed.

Ok, thanks. How reliable are they?

The drive inside the box is a standard 3.5" SATA drive. The manufacturers tend to give less warranty on externals (1 or 2 years) due to the possibility of rough handling in use. In my experience the power supplies tend to give up before the drive.

Drives from the big manufacturers like WD, Seagate and Iomega are pretty much of a muchness.

if your board has esata you want a drive with that.....120 mb/sec transfer from an external.....awesome...i have the lian li esata external with 3 x 1.5 tb seagates as a big 4.5tb drive...kicks ass
