Just wondering if anyone knows of any MMORPG's that are soon to surface or are currently in BETA phase. I'm really not interested in joining something that's been around a while because you're going to be so far behind everyone else, and won't know anything. So I like joinging a game when it's new so everyone is learning together.

I'm mainly used to 2D Isometric style RPG's, such as Myth of Soma and Droiyan. But willing to play 3D if it's good. I've just been looking at the WarHammer RPG site, not really sure if it's going to play like a normal MMORPG, or whether it will be war type games?

Warhammer and Conan are the two to watch at the moment. Plus Blizzard are working on a more-or-less unnanounced MMO set in a Sci Fi Universe (Cue World of Starcraft quips fot those with no imagination.) but that will likely be some time away.

I've signed up for the Warhammer BETA invites, but I doubt I'll get one. It says that you don't need any previous warhammer experience, which i don't have any, but I'm sure it will put people at an advantage that do have experience.

As Dampcat says, Warhammer and Conan are probably the big two upcoming MMOs (at least in the pay to play side of things, havent played the free mmos so not sure whats good there)

Dont worry about not having any warhammer experience, I havent got any experience of the warhammer tabletop games but I got into the beta. The tabletop experience wouldnt help all that much anyway (well apart from recognising places and creatures etc) , it plays like a traditional MMO , so MMO experience is a lot more useful than warhammer experience. Although being selected for the beta is really more down to luck than any kind of experience either way :)

Warhammer looks like an awesome MMO and im really looking forward to it. My mate has signed up to the beta whith loads of different emails and not been invited yet, so I think anyone in the beta is very lucky indeed.

Looks like a lot of time and effort has gone into the game and I hoping it will be pretty much perfect when its released.

I know its the oldest and you asked for new but Ultima Online is the BEST 2D MMORPG out there. And its possibly still better than 99% of all MMORPGs anyway.

Pirates of the Burning Sea is a MMO on the verge of release, I think its still in open beta. Conan about to come out soon as is Warhammer. No others are really outstanding or come to mind. Check:

Shame Bliz ain't doing Diablo 3 anytime soon :(

Got to both agree and disagree with that JBod :)

UO was by far the best MMO I have played in the last 10 years. At its prime it simply did things which all the MMOs which have come since can only dream about. Sadly though , now it is a pale and sorry shadow of its once former greatness. But back when I played it , from 1997 to 2001 on Catskills server, it simply was the best gaming experience I have had in 27 years of gaming. Utterly excellent. If only I could turn back the clock again :)

Again I know you said new ones but if you prefer PvE to PvP then I have to recommend Vanguard, especially if you're a former EQ1 player.

Yes it had a lot of problems at release but now it's an excellent game. There's bags of content and it's varied content too. Cave002 isn't an exact replica of Cave001 like in some other games.

If you plan to duo or group then I don't think there's anything better in the fantasy genre at the moment.

I agree, however there are free shards knocking around with the best of old and new. Some are incredibly busy, talking thousands of people... all for free :o Check Defiance I think it is.
