It's for my mum so don't need to be all singing all dancing but would still like it to be decent.
A good guide on it would be good also. Sometimes the guide on my lg C4 is naff. Taking ages for it to load up.
Must be some decent savings around this time of year?

What is your budget ? Also what type screen do you really want ? OLED, LCD etc.

I've been very impressed with my 65" Samsung S90C, especially with the Quantum Dot OLED panel and the amazing colours. The recent major update with the OS has been nice. Only downside is no DTS passthrough, although I think all my my DTS stuff is blu-ray and that's connected directly to the AVR anyway. I've noticed some LG don't do DTS passthrough either now?

First thoughts if OLED would be either the Samsung S90F or the LG C5, both at £1,499 at PT. The main trade-off between the two appears to be if you want HDR10+ or Dolby Vision.

Black Friday potential savings, but I'm sure spring is meant to be the best time to buy a TV if happy to go with a previous as the new models come out or something like that?

By the sounds of it she's not wanting to spend over a grand. So I'm thinking a mini led like hisence or TCL? Never seen them but seems to get good reviews.

My parents just replaced their lounge TV after seeing my TCL C855K - they went for the 65" - which is currently £899 (I paid £1200).

Probably more than they need in a TV (144hz, etc), but Google OS means they don't have to use a Fire stick...

I had a Hisense U6 as a partial warranty replacement for a higher end TV that died a couple of years back, it's a mini-led with FALD and was surprisingly good for the (at the time) £560 or so price for the 65" variant.

While I can't speak for TLC, this appears to be worth a gander: https://www.richersounds.com/tcl-65c6k-uk/#tab-specifications

The C7 is also discounted, but last year's flagship model Q9 is half price:

Edit: Costco also sell Hisense & TCL TVs - their 5 year warranty is outstanding (I'd pick it over RS's 6 year warranty, as they pro-rata any refund, based on the age of the TV, whereas Costco will refund 100% at any point in the 5 years). 65" P8K currently £480: https://www.costco.co.uk/TVs-Electronics-Security/TCL-65P8K-UK-65-Inch-QLED-TV/p/554899

Ordered a TCL from argos. Seemed like a good price, so my brother asked me to order one for collection at his local argos.

He got the txt to say its in. I got a txt an hr ago "sorry there has been a problem with your order and its' been cancelled".

Orderd another one for collection at a different store, immediately got "sorry..your order has been cancelled"

And now OOS in all argos stores within 75 mile radius, and can not be ordered for delivery.

So he gets his, and I can't get one for the same price...and I found the bloomin' thing !

Grrrrr!!

Costco or Richer Sounds nearby? Both will deliver, too (I'd go for Costco for their warranty)

Whatever you buy make sure it is from richer sounds or john lewis and has the 5 or 6 year warranty.

TV`s these days are not reliable in my opinion, 1 year warranty is bad. My sisters new Samsung broke just after the 12 months was up and had to buy another one.

John Lewis' warranty isn't as good as it used to be - no longer an automatic 5 year warranty, only on select ('spensive) TVs.

Richer Sounds' 6 year warranty is pro-rata'd on age:
  • TV and projector depreciation: The value of the TV and projector guarantee is not a full refund over time. Instead, it depreciates each year. For example, the payout is the original purchase price minus 20% in year 2, 30% in year 3, and so on, according to Richer Sounds.

Costco is the superior warranty: replacement or full refund for the whole 5 years.

I did not know that, thanks.

Do you reckon that Q9 would be the best around that price point?

In regards to Costco's warranty I think you may need to be member for the full 5 years or at least if/when you want to make use of the warranty.

Just seen this. Would this be a better shout than the Q9
