Budget £600-£650
I currently have:
74gb WD Raptors
150gb WD Raptors

I was thinking:
Intel X25-E Extreme 32GB SSD Operating System
300gb WD Raptors for games
300gb WD Raptors for games

Do you actually have 600GB of games? The X25-E is basically throwing your money away though, there are many other more-than-capable options with far greater capacities.
I would consider a 30GB Vertex Turbo when it comes out in the next few days for the OS, and a 256GB G.Skill Falcon for games, though that obviously leaves you somewhat shortchanged on the storage capacity.. at that point if you needed more storage then a WD Black or F1, but you could dial down the size of the Falcon and get a veloci within budget.

80GB Intel X-25-M for your OS/games drive and your 300GB raptors as further game drives.
Get yourself a couple of 1TB WD Caviar Black HDD's with money left over, or I'd suggest waiting for WD to release their 2TB Caviar Black :) that's what I'm doing!
Forget the F1 if you want to keep your data intact for more than a year!

Oh, what are you going to do with your 74GB and 150GB Raptors? Would you be up for selling them? :)

You have bad experiences with F1s. Deal with it. :p They still come highly recommended by many.
And, my data is perfectly intact on all my F1s after considerably more than a year.

No, why should I deal with Samsung's problem? :D I suggest you take a look at user reviews for F1 drives on amazon, and don't go saying that people on there don't know jack about computers. Just a friendly warning :)
Heed my advice, spend the extra few quid (which you seem to have lol) and buy GOOD hard drives, which I've seen you've done already with Raptors.

Highly recommended by many. Have you ever asked yourself why? The target market of F1's are people who want large capacity high performance hard drives which F1's offer. I haven't seen a single review on the internet or in PC Format, Custom PC exploring their reliability, yet when they review a dodgy power supply, they immediately class it as unreliable. I have one of these 'so called' dodgy power supplies they recently reviewed (Coolermaster M1000 Real Power) and I bought it after a Corsair HX1000W which died on me in three weeks which they recommended :confused::mad::confused:

Sorry about this Bakes. I just feel strongly that when people invest their good hard earned money in products, they should be good.

Oh not Paddyw01 and his crap again, along with the "friendly warnings." Please troll elsewhere.

bakes0310,

Not a lot of point in Raptors for games, 99% of them get no tangiable benefit. Though there are a couple of MMORPG's that get some subjective improvements (there's no way to bench them). A good SSD for you OS is a good move but I'd couple it with a big drive unless you're really wanting to spend cash.

I love the fact you've commented on my 'crap' in the first place.

Explain to me your logic in calling my arguments crap? Is it because you've allegedly had around 240+ Samsung drives and only a few have failed? Is it because you believe there is 'too much stupidity going on here'? Tell me, do you use these kind of tactics in all your debates?

As far as explaining myself is concerned, I've seen loads of negative AS WELL as an even number of positive things about Samsung drives, but VERY FEW negative things about WD drives, thus I suggest people should stick with WD for hard drives. To me, this is the epitome of common sense. You wouldn't buy a two grand TV from a manufacturer with 50/50 60/40 positive/negative reviews/comments about them now would you? Why should hard drives be any different.

Seriously AbsenceJam, do you think I enjoy writing long posts about why I think Samsung are an awful manufacturer?
When I post a new thread asking for advice on OCUK, many people on this forum give me a broad perpective on the item in question, but you seem to get really annoyed when I say negative things about Samsung. I would've thought someone who is about to spend 600-650 quid on a hard drive upgrade may want to know what's best for their system, would'nt you?
If you don't like me saying these things, why comment in the first place?

Also, I'd like to say that I don't single out Samsung for any reason, it's just that I've seen WAY TOO MANY negative comments/reviews about their products that attention should be brought as to why that is. If Intel made CPU's that failed after a year, I'd say negative things about them. If Sony made PS3's that also failed after a year, I'd also say they were a bad manufacturer. In this case, it's Samsung, so I say negative things about them. It's really not very difficult to see where I'm coming from.

Oh and the reason why I say 'just a friendly warning' is because I don't want to **** people off on this website, but I still want to say my piece. Understand?

what big drive would yo recommend, also infact what SSD would you recommend:D

I'd get an 1TB F1 as it's still the fastest 1TB drive overall (http://techreport.com/discussions.x/16472) and I've had no issues with reliability. You were looking at 600GB of space originally though so you might want to get a 640GB one but the difference is only about £10.

I don't know about consumer SSD's really, they still don't interest me as prices are high and there's lots of change going on. I'm really waiting for a BIG one for my laptop that won't bankrupt me. However there are loads of very happy people who get the smaller capacities so the outlay isn't too bad despite the premium.

It's just the 'RAID Edtion' of the WD20EADS which means a longer warranty and they enable TLER which you can do yourself. They'll also advertise a higher MTBF but these are meaningless from general experience. 2TB disks already have a silly premium and RAID edition takes it further, also 5400rpm drive so speed isn't great but for games+storage it's not going to matter a lot. If you cut the size by 500GB you can get 1.5TB disks for under £80.

Presumably you haven't seen this have you? Do a search for WD hard drives on amazon as well, and you'll see that OVERALL, there are less people reporting drive failures.

"It's still the fastest 1TB drive overall"? Really? Not according to this review. In every single test apart from 3 or 4 (and we're talking around 20 tests+), the Caviar Black has outperformed the F1. See for yourself. It isn't even very far behind Raptors either :D
These figures are also very impressive.
Again, get some 1TB Caviar Black's or wait for the 2TB version to come out ;)

Agreed. Although this video review might be of interest to you.
Also, I think I've noticed a few people on OCUK claiming a drop in performance in video editing programs so it might not be right for you.
I'd strongly advise you to wait for this to come out. I've already suggested it to OCUK so hopefully they'lll be getting some in the next few months :)
