Recommend me a broadband provider for a new flat!

you want to come on here and **** off BE and not say why

most people recommend them very highly

I'm more than qualified to **** them off, after been with them for 4 years, but again I didn't realise i had to justify my original comment. What I'm saying is not everyone thinks they are the be all and end all. Trust me once you get to know their customer support like i did you too would see them in a different light. That's all I'm gonna say on the matter.

Has anyone got BT infinity?
Quite tempted to go with them as my line is not installed and they're the only 12 month bt contracts (I have a 12 month lease)

Be*

Been with them over 4 years, totally unlimited downloads and no packet shaping/peak time throttling or any rubbish like that + They're soon to roll out a fibre service.

Most ISPs have crap customer support. Not exactly a huge surprise is it?

If you need to be using ISP customer support for anything other than "my line doesn't work, fix it." or "you've billed me wrong, fix it." then TBH the issue isn't with them.

90% of the weighting when rating/recommending an ISP should be derived from the actual service quality. Not their customer support for inane things like "where do I plug in this cable?" and "sir, you need to unscrew your NTE5 faceplate to reveal the test socket" and "my WiFi router you gave me keeps dropping the WiFi signal".

I am using the FTTC Fiber product from Plusnet (Which is the same as BT infinity).
Get 38Mb download and 8Mb upload, and have never had a problem.

This.

Cable, if you can, you should.

Indeed. I did the 'moving in to a flat' thing this month. Cable broadband is (mostly) crazy fast. Windows update? Steam? Easy :p Watching the megabytes download in a blink of the eye is quite something. I get 30Mb down and 2.5 up, which is quick enough for me. Though Virgin's wireless router is a joke, so I had to go powerline instead.

Only slight problem is the 18 month contracts, which are so annoying for the renters amongst us. :(

Now considering 12 month BE* value if there's no 12 month options from BT and virgin etc.

Shame about the £85 connection fee from Be* though which is why I wanted to go BT
