I've made another thread regarding my computer woes, but worse comes to the worse I'm going to need a completely new build.

My old computer was built in 2006, so there's not much salvagable, I don't want to use the old hard drive since I've got a funny feeling it's on its way out.
The only thing that might be worth saving is the graphics card, a ATI 4850 (512mb) which I put in about a year ago.

I'm out of the loop concerning todays hardware, I have no idea what all the different numbers on the CPU's mean, so I havn't got a clue where to start.

I'm looking to spend about £800, £900 top whack, hopefully something that overclockable, maybe water cooling? Though I think I'm getting ahead of myself.

Been asking questions today and I've started to get a rough idea.

Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156)
Asus P7P55D Pro Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Corsair CX 400W ATX Power Supply
Antec 200 Two Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU)

Which still leaves me to sort out a hard drive, cooling and what I want to do about my graphics card.
Also another thing I've missed is a sound card, for gaming, do you think the onboard sound will be good enough, or should I buy a card?

Any opinions are welcome :)

What are you looking to do with your new pc? Do you already have a monitor and if so what is it's native res?

That PSU will be barely powerfull enough to power the rig that you've specced and your 4850.

Sorry forgot to mention.
The PC will be used for mainly gaming and would also like to overclock.

My monitor is a Samsung T200, on my old PC I ran the resolution at 1680 x 1050
