Recommend me a Fan Controller

All I'd say is take your time when marking where the holes should be, and when it comes to drilling, don't rush it.

I started out with a small pilot hole, then just kept using a bigger drill bit until the hole was the right size (6.5mm I think it was). I also used a counter-sink to remove any rough edges.

Also the knobs were quite hard to get off, try not to break the unit whilst pulling them off ;)

I was going to use a labeller and stick some labels above each knob depending on which fan it controls (E.g Front, Rear, VGA and CPU).

I'm not sure now it would suit it though, what's everyone think?

Getting it etched would look smart, or brushed differently.

Cost a fair bit though for what it is worth.

nice job cracker. looks great :)

if you wanted any vynil stickers info on it you could get some made up at a local sign makers. im sure it wouldn't cost you much.

Good job. Very minimalist. Labelling may well detract.

I'm tempted.

Without the LEDs, how are you going to tell what speed you are running? Or whether the fans are running at all?

That's what I was thinking. I think I'll leave it, it's not hard to remember which does which anyway.

I've got good earing :p

I too am on the lookout for a fan controller and am not impressed as to whats on offer isnt there such a thing as a plain black 4-6 fan controller without logos branding/bright lights all over the front?

Cracker

I was a bit worried about the weight and if the Lian Li plate could cope with it as the Sunbeam one has additional supports at the back. But once the buttons were all screwed in it turns out it wasn't an issue.

Thinking about this a bit more. Without the supports, what is actually holding the controller board up? Is it just the bolts that the knobs are screwed onto? Seems a bit frgile. Or is this why you were so careful in drilling just the right sized holes?

I know what you mean - not come across one.

Can't you take some acetone to the front of the Sunbeam, that should remove the braning crap.

If you think the lian li fascia can't hold the rheobus, then make two semi circular cuts either side and bend them down. As you can see at the back of the PCB on the Sunbeam one, it acts as a ledge. Even though the Lian Li fascia doesn't go so far back, you could probably find somewhere on the PCB for it to rest.

If you get me?

Yes the bolts hold the whole controller tight against the back of the face plate. I was going to add more support once I fitted it in the case, but realised I didn't need to, the 4 bolts hold it securely enough.

Just make sure when you drill the holes they aren't bigger than the bolts or they won't have anything to tighten onto.

You should make them and sell them black and silver i for one would defo buy one.I like the alphacool and Silverstone FP33 theyare both plain without lcd and other crap.
