Hi guys..
I was playing HL2 EP1 last night and my PC was really going for it, I quit and and checked and the temp was at 75degs
I have an Antec P180 case
BFG 7800GTX 256
AMD 4200 dual core
2gb Ram
Asus A8N32
580w PSU

I don't want anything fancy looking, just something that keeps it real cool.

cheers for any help

4 the win!

umm, you probably want a heatsink. no point in buying a fan with nowhere to put it. so at a guess, freezer 64 pro or scythe ninja. a 4200dual wont get that hot even with the stock sink, so check and remount that first before buying a new sink.

unless it's your gpu temp, in which case that's pretty normal to be honest.

:D

If you want value for money and decent cooling, I'd suggest Artic Cooling Freezer 64. Cheap and good cooling.

Another vote for AC Freezer64 if it's a cpu cooler you're after.

BACK TO THE TOPIC now..

Your P180 has 3 tri cool fans Where are those and what speed you use?

I move my 120x38 to front with Low speed. The rest are low.
If you see my rig from the sig, the MB is at 36 and it goes up to 46 under Oblivion mode.

I have 1 blowing away from the PSU, placed between the PSU and the little compartment with the ring pull on it.
I have 1 in the roof of the case blowing air out.
I have another at the upper rear of the case blowing outwards.
They are all swithced to med setting

I have just installed SpeedFan 4.28 to monitor the temps. Not used it before but it brings up my fan speeds and it only has a reading for Fan 1, at 3390 RPM.. the other two fans don't have a reading. Is this just the fan placed on the heatsink?

I was just about to make a thread concerning this issue,

HL2 E1 really heats up the CPU, and my graphics card, I need new coolers,

I m using the default AMD ones

hmmm I did find it suss that it seemed to be excessive with this one game. I have played plenty of games on this system before and never had the machine seem to be under any stress like this, to me its pretty high end for a non overclocked machine. Kinda worried me.

yeah, BF2 at full settings, HL2 at the same settings as E1, no crashing at all,

after 10 mins on E1 my system reboot. I m getting ThermalRight SI-120 with
YS-TECH FD1238 120mm Fan - 4 Pin

Dont worry about reading the fan speed from the tri cool fan, just go to the manaul and see if it flow enough volume of air to case.

The lower chamber fan is not quite important you can set it low if u wanna keep it there.

I would recommend you add another fan in front of the case ( will be hard to place trust me !!!) just to get more air in. There are many choices you can try
120mm akasa amber(12v), acoustic dust proof(7v)

I also think it would be best to have a fan controller, i have the akasa pro one and it is great.

i dont believe adding another fan is the way to solve his problems when i only have 3 fans in my entire pc. all are 120's, all run below 1400rpm and my 3ghz opetron 148 loads at 49c

guys am a bit worried now!
The hard drive temp is really concerning me now... So will sticking more fans in solve the issue? Is there anything I can do?!

I have the side off the case and Speedfan is telling me my CPU is at 49degrees. It was at 52 degrees with the side on. Not sure what it was at during Half Life, but the CPU fan was working overttime.
