Recommend me a firewall?

I used Sygate Pro for many years along with NOD32 for my AV, I've now changed over to Eset Smart Security which combined NOD32 AV and a nice Firewall which works even better than Sygate did and causes no issues at all.

It does on Vista. The Windows Firewall +NAT is perfectly fine for most people.

Even though Vista's outbound firewall is 'on' by default, all outbound connects that do not match a rule are allowed [and creating rules is a tiresome chore in itself]. In the default configuration, there are no outbound 'block' rules, only allow rules. In other words, even though the Windows Firewall outbound protection is on, it is not doing anything....
