Recommend me a game please

Have to admit I'm not entirely sure whether Clear Sky is an expansion or a standalone game, but the original Stalker is fantastic-takes a little initiative and getting into, but once you do it doesnt let go-it is a little Deus Ex like...
 
I have already played and done HL2...and have just completed STALKER. Thanks for the suggestion guys it nicely fits into the set of games listed above which I have previously enjoyed.

I found the accuracy needed quite disturbing at times I reckon it probably will have improved my shooting in other first person shooters lol. The only downside of the game play was the annoying limiting rucksack and sometimes the distance required in order to get from one area to the next. Having plenty of bugs in it (i.e. those of the game itself, such that I needed to restart levels and missions in order for things/characters to work) was very annoying!!

I didn't use the artifiacts until the end, apart from the one with negative side effects. I was saving them to sell and for some reason I believed that they only lasted a while lol.

When I played the false ending I was told that I wished to get rid of the zone :cool:.

The score and music was very good, and so were the sound effects. It did make me jump a few times lol. The voice at the end started to really **** me off towards the end lol!

The graphics weren't bad at all. I couldn't quite get it playable on the highest AA level, but it looked very nice with most other things on high at 1600x1200 on a BFG 8800 GTS 640.
 
Just wanna bump this again, as there's some new games popping out this month.

I just bought and installed Far Cry 2. While it looked good I just don't want another totally open game like STALKER and Oblivion. This is why I uninstalled FC2. Not my thing.

Are there any new more linear games out there? I see that Fall Out 3 is made by Bethesda who made Oblivion so might wanna give that a miss.

Are there any more new ones out there please? I like start and end points and very linear story lines. I don't want too much freedom e.g. Oblivion or a role playing game e.g. Sims.

the best game by far and one of the funniest but it is a oldie is Postal2 if you google that you may get it for a fiver its worth it just to kill gary oldman or coleman sorry cant remember which but is the game that got me into fps games so funy way ahead of its time
