I'm looking to get a game server for Battlefield: BC2.. can't decide how many slots 32 maybe..

Not knowing much about this sort of thing, can you recommend a provider.. I've just looked at Multiplay and Gameservers.. which looked OK

How easy are they to setup?

Also what is the voice comms of choice these days, I have a Ventrillo servers from my Warcraft days.. is Teamspeak a better choice now ?

Cheers

Gameservers.com

Easy to setup they do it all for you. You'll just need to learn the basic commands for changing maps etc

I've always prefered to use ventrilo

Multiplay are a pretty respectable setup and probably my 2nd choice.

1st choice being the one I helped setup :D but we don't do BC2 due to the owner not liking ranked server tie ins. But if you have any other game server needs our prices are hard to beat and the hardware pretty decent: 78.129.175.148 example IP for pinging.

Cheers, that was going to be one of my questions... what is a Ranked server ?

Ranked server is one that works within the official ranked stats system so when you play on a server tied into this system your player profile stats, unlocks, etc. get updated.

Usually ranked servers are charged at a premium and the publisher often controls prices, etc. :(

Obviously on unranked servers (considered insecure) none of your gameplay goes towards unlocking new weapons, increasing stats, etc. only really the battlefield games and ETQW that implement this currently.
