Recommend Me A Gaming Headset

Hi everyone, it's been a verrrry long time since I last posted on here :D. Anyway, I'm currently using Sony WH-XB910N Bluetooth headphones and they are starting to get a bit old and tatty. I'm looking to dabble in the odd bit of gaming every now and then so I'm looking to go from headphones to a decent gaming headset. What are my preferences...

- It would be good if it come with a relatively decent microphone which can either be disconnected or taken off. It wouldn't be a deal breaker if it was permanently fixed onto the headset though.
- Somewhat decent(ish) noise cancelling on them.
- Prefer wireless but if I was told that a wired headset was so much better I could entertain the idea.
- Decent(ish) sound quality. I'm no audiophile but I'd like any audio to be nice and not like listening through mud :cry:.

I keep seeing these STEELSERIES Arctis Nova Pro Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset keep popping up when I've done my searchings. The only problem is, I don't know if they are almost too much for what I'm looking for or are they really as amazing as people seem to say? Anyway, the important bit, budget. Can I be greedy and ask for anyone to recommend 2 gaming headsets. One being the best for your money that is under £200 and another that is under £300 so I can weigh up the 2. That would be very much appreciated. Thanks everyone :cool:.

I have this and would be what I would recommend but he wants wireless.

I found another video of that fractal headset and for the money, about £160 in the UK....I am tempted myself to get something like this as wireless! The mic is detachable too.

Hello fellow Northamptonshire person *waves* . Just had a little look around the internets and they have either been discontinued or they just don't exist any more unless I'm not seeing the obvious :cry: .

I prefer wireless, but if there is a gaming headset that's wired and head and shoulders better than a wireless headset I'd entertain it :). I've just had a look for the Fractal Design Scape gaming headset and other than Scan, they don't seem to being sold anywhere else. In a perfect world, I'd like to buy from a shop or a website that has a reliable returns process incase anything did go wrong :D.

If you go to the fractal site they list a UK seller, just 1 though it seems, 3 in stock.
 
The biggest downside to the Fractal gaming headset is that it has no active noise cancelling on the headphone which is a big negative for me. I will add them to the shortlist in case anyone else suggests them though :).

Jenz, I have just searched for that and there is no where that sells them from what I can see :(.

What about these?


The PC38X is an open back though? wired....it is complete opposite lol I got mine to replace the official Xbox headset as that was too small for me and I know Sennheiser headphones fits my head. Plus the xbox pad has a 3.5mm out so it is basically wireless in a sense as I am not wired to the console, just the controller.
 
In a similar position myself, what did you end up getting ?

The Fractual looked to be good until I heard the mic sound, just way compressed, Kind of stuck between SS Arctis Nova 7, (unsure if the gen 2 is worth the extra), and the Razer Blackshark (again V2 Pro '23 or V3 regular ?).
I must admit, probably the leatherette pads rules out the Blackshark V3 , I prefer cloth types.
 
Hi @Vogon . I got very close to pulling the trigger on a set of STEELSERIES Arctis Nova Elite but with how much they cost, I took the option to sleep on it for a bit. I know this next bit is going to be of no use to you but I ended up going away from a gaming headset and bought the Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless headphones when they were on sale on Amazon. With the fact that I already own a DJI Mic setup for the work that I do, I just use that if I do need use of a microphone at any point :).
 
I looked at that but didnt like the sound of the mic. on reviews.

I stumbled across this review:

He has some good headset reviews, and some settings worth trying, worth checking his channel to see if he has reviewed anything you are considering.

After watching it I thought an Arctis Nova 3X or 5X would be better than the 7 due to slightly better mic. and lower cost for the same sound quality, I can forgo dual use BT/2.4 as I would never use it, and a metal headband for the savings.
So it was a decision between the 3 or 5, but finding the 3 for £85 swung it, and cross platform compatibility is excellent with the X version.

Steelseries headsets are pretty good, have one myself for a few years and still going strong, good sound, nice mic, cant remember what model i have but it has the retractable mic on it.

If you get a Steelseries with swappable batteries nab a couple of spares ASAP as they have a habit of discontinuing manufacturing quickly after the next, shiny model comes out.

I like my Arctis Pro but do have to use more expensive third party batteries these days.
