Hi guys, at the moment I've begun the ever familiar task of reading the forums for ideas on what to put in a new computer I'm specing up based around C2D.

I record a lot of music and would like a HDD setup tailored towards this.

At the moment I'm thinking of:

External:

  • Icy Box External Enclosure IB-360AStUS SATA + USB Combo - Black/LED
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM

I'm hoping this will cover me for backing up purposes.

Internal:

I'm also planning on having another Seagate Barracuda 7200.0 320GB for documents, pictures, video etc, everything else basically.

I know about the raptors and that they're supposed to be fast, but I'm also reading that 2 Seagate 7200.10 drives (as above) in RAID0 can be just as fast?

I'd like Windows and all of my music to be recorded to a pair of fast drives ideally.

Would it be worth getting 2 74gb Raptors in RAID0 for my music and windows? Or would a pair of the above mentioned Seagates in RAID0 be better? Or should I just scrap the idea of RAID altogether? :p If I went RAID I'd be partitioning them and leaving say 20-30gb for windows, the rest for music.

Things have got much more complicated now I've introduced RAID, I've never looked into it before.

If anyone has any suggestions at all it'll be greatly appreciated :D Thanks.
