Hi Guys

I currently have an XFX850W Modular PSU and ever since I got the GTX 780, I can can hear a ticking noise coming from the PSU. I also get the occasional coil whine which others have experienced. I have decided to get a new PSU because of these noises and I was wondering could anyone recommend me a good Modular PSU for my system. My Spec is in my signature.
Your comments welcomed.

the clicking noise will be the fan hitting the plastic which sticks up underneath it
for one 780 you wont need 850w, 650w will be enough

What if I need more Hard drives? Will the 550 be enough?

Ia lready have an SSD and a Seagate Barracuda

Also, Im thinking of moving my system into an overclockers watercooled case..

Would this provide enough power?

Spend £20 more and get the Seasonic G 750W. It has better internal components, plus a longer warranty (5 years rather than 3).

as i said a 650w will be fine, and i wouldnt choose that corsair as already said above
and yes that seasonic will be perfect its the same price as the 650w anyway so yeh you might aswel get the 750w

Hi Guys, Sorry to bump this thread.
I have been told by some on the forum that 500w PSU would be enough for my system:
i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz
Antec Kuhler 920
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
16GB Ram
MSI GTX 780
1x 128gb ssd
1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda
1x DVD rewriter
1x Firewire PCI card

By that reckoning, would the following PSU be ok for my system?

No point spending a premium on a fanless PSU when you can get a PSU with more wattage for a similar price. (Allows for future upgrades etc.)

Don't get a Corsair AXi PSU as they're made by cheap internals, compared to their cousin, AX (without the i) with seasonic internals.

Do you plan to have 2 cards in the future? If so, go for a 750/850w. If not, stick to a 550/650, as specced above.

Dye I'd rather spend the extra 20 and get the 750w seasonic g.. coz you never know what you might want getting!

besides less stress on PSU, less wattage used means less fan means less noise means happy you
