Hello all,

I've currently got a couple of 250gb drives and I think I'll benefit with a new SATA HDD to slot in to my coolermaster tower.

At present I've got my XP install on one drive partitioned in to two (C:\ = XP, D:\ = My Documents). So when I format Windows I've not lost all my documents.

I've got an external hard drive that I can copy all My Documents too so they are safe, but how would I re-gain all the space on the hard drive I've partioned to My Documents (as the new HDD would now be My Documents) without losing my XP install?

I'd probably looking at around 1Tb of storage as I'm really in to my photography now and shooting RAW files does take up space.

What HDD should I be looking at, and at what cost?

Cheers..

Samsung F1 or Western Digital Caviar Black. Both perform about the same, depends which brand you prefer, the Samsungs are a bit cheaper if you're on a budget. Job done.

Go to My Computer, right click your old documents partition, choose format. Or use Vista or software to delete the old documents partition entirely then extend the XP partition into the space your old documents used to be in.

Depending on the drives he has already he may want a fresh install onto the new drive as it may be much quicker if the 250GBs are quite old.
