I found myself getting bored watching the first couple of episodes in season 1 of The Wire but I gave it chance after reading such good reviews. I have just tonight finished watching the fifth and final season and I must say it is definately one of the best TV shows I have ever watched. Seeing the fate of some of the characters in the final episode left me so intrigued that I spent several hours afterwards looking them all up on imdb / wikipedia and reading more about them, I can't think of any other TV show that has had me that interested in it's characters.

Exactly the same with me, I actually watched the first episode of The Wire and found it boring.
It wasn't until a month later I ended up watching a few more and I was glued to the TV, it wasn't long before I found myself upset that I was on the last season.
Lost
Dexter
both still running, but both worth seeing
Another vote for both of these, not long until the 5th season of Lost
The previous 4 seasons of Lost are out on DVD and will take a big chunk out of the 3 weeks
I'm pretty sure there's only season 1 of Dexter out, the 2nd isn't far behind, but definitely a show I can recommend.

its been cancelled plus its utter trash after season 1, so its not worht your time.
I don't have a short attention span but I'll definately give it another go, from everyones comments it must be really good.
