I personally like Jack Daniels.

Goes well with lemonade actually, tastes a bit like Haribo.

The Glenlivet 15 year old French Oak Reserve. Tesco were selling them half price before Christmas. Awsome stuff

. Stuff like Chivas is also good but I prefer GL.

JD is not a Whisky.

ive got a couple of bottles of glenmorangie one 15yr old single malt and another port wood finish both very nice whiskys and i think both under the £30 mark, theres also a good long thread around here somewhere thats got a few good reco's just search for whisky

Whisky is scottish and canadian I think, american and irish whiskeys have the e.

The only people who give a toss are snobby scotch drinkers

JD isn't really a Whisky or Whiskey in the proper sense though, its a bourbon.

Both Scotch Whisky and Irish Whiskey are lovely

Scotch people tend to think that if it's bourbon, it's not whiskey, or rather, if it's not scotch, it's not whiskey.

Just because it's not scotch, doesn't mean it's not whiskey.

I know.. but people who drink scotch and somehow think it makes them better say things like it's not a proper whisky/whiskey (see paradigm above) it's a bourbon...

But bourbon is whiskey, there's no question that it is. Just because it's not scotch, doesn't mean it's not 'proper'. I just see no reason to be snobbish about booze. Some people like scotch, some like bourbon, it really doesn't matter.

The Balvenie whiskies are excellent. The 12yo Double Wood is my favourite but if you can't find that then the 10yo Founder's Reserve is a close second!

Laphroaig Whisky is also excellent but an acquired taste.
