Hi all,

I wonder if you can help. I’m after a script or an application that will allow me to help split a load of files into folders with a total size…. Within the windows environment.

For example. I have 200Gb of Jpeg files, all are about 2Mb each.

I want an application to look at my folder (that contains all this data).Said application looks at this folder and then creates a folder called ‘1’ lets say and then moves x number of Mb/Gb of these files to a folder. (say 4.5Gb for DVD’s)

It will then proceed to create another folder ‘2’ which then proceeds to carry off from previously until this folder reaches the same capacity limit.

And so it goes on until all the files are stored in relevant folders.

Can anyone recommend such a program for this Task ?

so close, but it really doesnt like 25Gb Chunks.. :(

i'll give a whirl again, but doesnt look hopefull.

do you need 'instant' access to the files on the disk?

you can create split archives in winrar, so you could rar all of the files and have it chop up the finished rar file into chunks of your choosing (4.5gb for example).

obviously the files left are in rar format so you wouldn't be able to use the contents of the rar directly, but its easy to extract them when needed.
