recommend me an online game that looks good

Hey folks,

I play a lot of COD4 online but want to do something a bit different for at least a while as I've got a bit bored of it. I tried COD:WAW fora few hours but I really didn't like it so sold it. Plus it's very similar to COD4.

I want to play something else online that looks good (I don't really like single player games, I like a bit of competition). I have played UT3 to death and still pick it up every now and again.

I don't mind looking into an mmorpg but I don't want to play WoW as I have played that before. Do any of them have a competitive element?

What can you recomend?
 
WoW you have arenas / high end raids but you mentioned you don't want that so...

Left 4 Dead is quite fun I have heard, other than that the usual suspects like Counter Strike come to mind, but honestly I have been mostly playing solo games recently (other than WOW) so possibly am not the most helpful of people in this.

Actually what about Far Cry 2 or Crysis War Head?

To play left for dead online can you join a game or do you have to organise it with people before hand. Most of my friends play online on consoles and I much prefer the pc so if I can just join randoms that is better for me.

I didn't mention I have played a lot of CS and CS:S but prefer COD4 to it so probably won't go back to it. The reason I don't really want to go to WoW is that I played it when it first came out to around level 50 but I got really bored. Plus I work long hours at work so don't have much time in the evenings to play games so when I do I just like having a blast for an hour or so.
 
For quick fun, where you dont need to be online 23/7 to get skills and good, try eve-online? free trail, go into 0.0 space and get to be a pirate. Might suit you...

just don't get stuck mining etc, it's grind tastic when you start that!
 
You can go mining for easy but slow isks in high zones aye, but if you want action, there are pleanty of spot for that too.
 
Don't know if it's your cup of tea, but what about TF2?

Always good for an hour or so's blast of an evening. :)

doesn't look realistic, but it does looks really good

looks like incredibles, but funnier and with exploding bodies & blood

You can play it with random people, there's an ocuk group out there somehwere, infact theres a thread about it aswell, put up your steam name for L4D and join in a few games with the guys from here.

Oh, and it's a brilliant game ;)

those ^^ I especially like TF2, graphical style is superb as are the animations.

Eve online too although you'll die of boredom unless your one of the 20% of people who try it and find something entertaining after the first few days.

Lord of the Rings Online looks nice too, although it isn't hugely exciting either.
 
Long time since I played DOD:Source, Its awesome I just kinda got bored of the same maps, are there any new one? Which server to play on ?
