Can someone recommend me a VERY FAST SSD Drive?

Budget is £200 can push more if necessary.

Mainly for OS and games, hoping for lightning speed reads and writes etc.

Cheers

You might want to hold off for a while tbh - as an example I paid £214.99 for my 128g crucial drive on the 25th Sep and it is now £263.99 so price tend to fluctuate as you can see (drives were released at £199.99 but don't know when this was)

Cheers for the links.

D1ngd0ng - I've been very patient and I was holding on for SSD's for a while. But since I've got my new system running games are currently slow with my hard drive. Thats not the only thing, my current drive is very loud and it's really annoying.

I also need an SSD for OS and definetely games. I believe this will make my system dramatically faster as well.

So should I go for the intel X25-M?

According to the very many and very long reviews I've read, the Intel G2 had among the best results except for sequential write speeds, whatever they are. Although apparently the original jmicron drives (do not buy one of these) had high sequential write speeds and were still rubbish.

Some of the latest reviews score newer drives higher than the Intel but performance apparently degrades over time. The Intel's (G2) "don't drop in performance when used", which looks good long term.

On price, I see the Intel 160Gb is up to £365 but there were a few left on ebay for £289 yesterday morning. I ordered one because the price was too good.

How big do you need the drive to be. Then get the cheapest Crucial or Intel that is big enough.

There's not much noticeable difference in day to day use, so the size and budget's going to be the deciding factor for you.
