GFX card died so i'm using a intergrated on-board ATi POS.

Looking up emulators I came across one called MAME. Heard about it before but never played it so i've no idea what games to look for!

Found a site on Google already which looks to have the Earth's entire collection of Arcade games lol.

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks! :D

Neil, the two games you stated say they're mission ROM's and CHD? No idea what that means, I just dragged and dropped the game like the other one but these don't seem to work.

Bad site i guess where you are getting these roms/chds

I have the ermmm working ones :p

Rom download sites not allowed here mate :(

Btw thats a really out of date place now , many don't work and missing files

Sorry. Checked the sites you gave me and i've no idea where to download them from on the page, i've looked everywhere :(

ahh Mame..so glorious!

I love the walk along beat em ups, I recommend:

double dragon
vendetta
golden axe
captain commando
pow
bad dudes vs dragon ninja

also as someone else suggested the Metal slug series - possibly the best 2d walk along 2player arcade shooters :)

if you are using onboard graphics I would suggest you look for an old game called Covert action, should keep you busy for a while, not to mention ScummVM

Finally managed to get the games to work by downloading a different version of Mame and i've been having a right blast!

Got Street Fighter II on atm but my God, didn't know there were so many filthy porno games back in those days! :O

Thank's for the recommendations, deffo gonna try 'em out.

Roms are just the dumps from chips on the arcade circuit boards.

CHDs are images of the hard disc on some arcades, and are bigger than ROM dumps. DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) is a hard disc based arcade.

This is a great source of mame goodness related information.

Game wise if you legally own the original arcade boards then I would look at getting into the old school sideways shoot em up scrollers.

Could go on with a list but

R Type
Gradius 3
Vulcan Venture
Salamander

to name a few

All great games as well as some from the golden age of sega:

Space Harrier
Afterburner 2 (awesome game awesome soundtrack)
Outrun
Powerdrift (great game)

Then theres the DoDonPachi Series, these are vertical scrollers with great soundtracks and literally 100s of enemies on screen

Wow it;s all come flooding back now:

The original bubble bobble is worth a blast as is the various versions of pang (superb game) and you cant miss out on hypersports and track and field.
