How about some Grind as well to beef up your playlist á la Pig Destroyer and Nasum.

Metalcore, try searching Animosity my friend.

Being a big fan of metal, i'd spend forever listing bands, so take a quick peak at my playlist.

There's branching out and all kinds of alternative stylings there to keep your ears happy for the time being.

Last.fm
ED GEIN! GENGHIS TRON! TUSK!

Love me a bit of grind on occasion! :D

Tough guy hardcore?
Like throwdown and hatebreed???
Haha, no. They're seriously, seriously overproduced compared to what is generally accepted as tough guy hardcore.

Cheers for the recommendations and nice work on that Rise Against review and interview on PT. I've been a huge Rise Against fan for sooooooooo long so it was great to read your interview. They're like my favourite band ever.
Cheers. Revolutions Per Minute is one of, if not my favourite album ever. Utterly, utterly sublime. Was almost gutted I didn't get to interview Tim, but Chris seemed cool enough (as he surfed away on his iBook).

Just remembered another one i like, they're a fairly new mathcore band from the UK called Sikth. they incorporate Meshuggah style rhythms with technical dream theater - esque passages

Sikth aren't really that new at all. They've been about since nu-metal was all the rage...

I agree with RPM. It's a modern classic, as far as I'm concerned. My mate got me to check them out when The Unraveling was out, but I only liked a handful of songs. When RPM came out, he was literlly like forcing me to listen to them again. So I did and I haven't look back since.

Good live too. Although I did find the setlist on the last tour slightly disappointing. I still screamed every goddamn word despite the fact I was surrounded by what felt like, 15 year olds.

Rise Against's new album is absolutely awesome. they've really matured imo.

as for metalcore, it's a silly genre - but how about Norma Jean, Evergreen Terrace, Snapcase, Throwdown, Snot (i can crowbar them into any recommendations thread!) and Will Haven (get Carpe Diem)

I dunno, they were around just after the millenium, that's not that old
But being on your second album, which was preceeded by 2 EP's, doesn't exactly make you new either, does it? :p

RAMMSTEIN!

More metal than trash, but must be heard to be believed

Lyrics are weird, but if you're not speaking German, you don't really care.

What! LOL  (Seriously, I've not laughed this hard in days.)

Tell me you've seen the video where they are all greased up and naked playing their instruments. Yeah, if that's your thing, by all means.

Rammstein are actually more 'Pop' by definition. Popular, sanitised for the radio and distributed widely. They sound industrial, but industrial my cheeks!

POP

Britney sodding Spears is pop. All the crap on Radio 1 is pop. Bloody Beyonce and atomic kitten are pop.

Rammstein ain't pop, they are industrial metal, with other elements (incl. punk) in their music.

Yeah, their stage shows are ridiculous, their music is "hard" and their lyrics are "twisted". Awesome to listen to, great to watch, but you may need to hear the lyrics to understand the stage show.

actually, pop just means popular music, and therefore isn't a genre in itself. yeah, you could class Beyonce as pop, but she's an RnB artist. Rammstein are pop - i know millions of people that listen to them...but they're also industrial metal.

personally, i can't see what the fuss is about.

Glad you feel that way man, whatever music you like, be passionate about it.

People's preference/taste will always be different, so let's not get into the argument of good or bad as that's pointless really.

This is a metalcore thread however and Rammstein, well.

Death of a Dead Day IS their second album. First album is "The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out, Wait for Something Wild" and it's probably their best work.

Industrial, indeed. They're really rather great live though.

They're not metalcore though. Not in anyway shape or form. Not even close. Not even an inspiration on any kind of metalcore. Just Industrial (at a push) like you said. But you know this already.
