mumm-ra (on the verge of becoming massive)

Saw these last November for £1.50 in a local Bar when they were finding theyre feet. A mates band (Gintis) are very good mates with this band aswell, they will be huge in the next few weeks i.e. top 20 single.

but just because Sigur Ros are slightly more obscure than the other bands listed does not make it 'weird'.

Why not? They are entirely different to the other bands mentioned.

If I were to say I liked Steps, S Club 7, The Spice Girls and Napalm Death, are you trying to say that you couldn't see the odd one out?

Nope, been possibly my fave artist ever since I first heard Heartbreaker (though I liked Stranger's Almanac before that, just never really loved it)

good man! i find all other music falls short compared to Ryan Adams

Hmm i saw Milburn at Reading while waiting to see another band and had been told they were similar to Arctic Monkeys, and I have to say they did sound VERY similar.. verdicts still out on that one.

Boy Kill Boy
Maximo Park
Raconteurs
Bloc Party
White Stripes

Bit of a selection there, might suit your tastes.

Oh and i happened to see Mumm-Ra at reading and really enjoyed them, only went as my friend Steve researched some of the smaller bands on myspace, saw they had a song called "What would Steve do?" and insisted we see them. Didn't regret it at all, very good band i thought,

Everyone says that, but actually Milburn were around before Arctic Monkeys.

I must admit though, the studio recorded versions of the Milburn tracks seem to have been changed to sound like them :\

Went to see Milburn in Sheffield in the week, they were pretty poo really, may have been around before AM, but they don't have a thing on them.

In response to OP -

Bloc Party 'cos they're good :D
We Are Scientists for some infectiously catchy pop/indie
Interpol 'cos they're also good :D (Turn On The Bright Lights is probably my favourite album.)

I've seen them both this year and I like them equally :p

Was it the Octagon gig you went to on Thursday? I thought Milburn played awesome.

Aye, they were pretty good, but not amazing. The crowd were really, really mad though =D, was on the outskirts of the madness.
I don't know, I don't think they would have been half as good had I seen them anywhere other than Sheffield. Their music is better than average but it doesn't really have something to set them above any other indie imo. Still had a good time!
I saw AM earlier in the year on the NME tour and they kind of sucked, but saw them at Lowlands in the summer and they were really great, I guess I just prefer them musically.

Pavement, The Shins, Flake Music.
Or for more post rocky goodness try Godspeed You Black Emperor, Mogwai, A Silver Mt. Zion.

That should get you started.
