Recommend me some Stephen King

His short stories collections are generally excellent. They range from 20 page stories to 200 pages (The Mist). Night Shift, Skeleton Crew and Everything's Eventual are all excellent. Different Seasons is outstanding.

He's written some good novels. The Stand is a great journey with a slightly flat ending. Revival is a crushingly bleak horror story, and one of his best. 11/2/63 is non-horror and a good read.

The Dark Tower starts well, but the last two books are beyond awful.

OK, Mr. Mercedes and The Institute are next on my list.

There are some great suggestions in here. I've already read some of them, specifically The Green Mile, Misery, The Running Man, The Long Walk, Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption and 11/2/63.

Tragic wasn't it? I remember being captivated by Roland the Gunslinger as a teen and then that ending was garbage.

The first few books are excellent.

I hated the final book so much, I re-read it a few years later as I thought my memory of the ending must have been faulty and it couldn't have been that bad. Nope!

Finished Mr. Mercedes and The Institute. They were both good, the former better than the latter which was too long.

About to start Finders Keepers, the follow up to Mr. Mercedes.
