Starcraft 2...expensive atm

CIV 4....meant to better than CIv5....looks complex?

I don't believe Starcraft 2 will drop in price any time soon. It is a fantastic game and one which I recommend to you.

Definitely have a good explore with C&C, everything up to C&C3 + expansion. SC2 is expensive but it's very easy to get your money's worth out of it if you end up enjoying it. Civ 4 is certainly more in depth than civ 5, but worth a punt if you enjoy the game style.

Also I'd echo the recommendation on Supreme Commander + FA.

I agree with whats been said already starcraft 2 is worth picking up. If you pick up command and conquer the first decade you will have every c&c upto generals. Then pick up c&c 3 cheap which is pretty decent.

Company of heroes is at the very best of rts gaming again this is very cheap for the anthology which will be hours of beautiful gaming :)

some older rts games which ive played and enjoyed over the years are age of mythology, lord of the rings battle for middle earth, dawn of war, age of empires and rise of nations.

Company of Heroes is my game of choice at the moment :)

Multiplayer isn't easy at first. Single player is still good fun though.

I agree, a really great strategy game, spent so many hours on it back in the day! Never played the single player, just the mulitplayer was so good. :D

If your looking for something harder though, try out men of war assault squad, I much prefer it over CoH but only because its less arcady.

Another vote for supreme commander as well.

Company of Heroes is undeniably great but I am not a big fan of small scale battles.

I prefer Men of War, its another ww2 rts but with large scale battles that I simply find strategically more satisfying than coh.

sc2 ... nuff said. its pricey for a reason (hint: bc its exceptionally good)

The multiplayer is totally free?

Is it limited in any way, limited selection of maps, limited game mode options or something?

yes you can only play as terran, and you can only play custom games on certain maps.

Anno 1404 is great visually and the gameplay is solid, especially if you enjoy micro.

C&C 3 and Generals are the two I'd recommend from that series, well worth a play as the C&C series is what made RTS games.

Also the Supreme Commander series is excellent.

And how about CIv4. This Annon looks good also.

I played tropico 4 demo last night and its good but I dont know the game seems a bit limited...maybe the full game with sceanrios will be better, but theres no wars or huge goals in the game just make a nice city run well really...?

Civ IV is brilliant. Very immersive, i have lost lots of time to it!

Personally i think that Civ V will be a better game if they iron out the AI issues, but atm IV is much better
