Hi, I'm after a new set of 225/40/18 tires for my Astra Vxr and I'm looking for some opinions. I currently have a set of Yoko Parada spec 2s on my car which I had purchased after the original conti sport 2s had worn out, I wasn't expecting much when I brought them (a relatively cheap set of rubber brought as it was the beat tire stocked) but they were absolutely sensational in the dry although rather poor in the wet.

There dry performance was most likely due to the soft compound used as these tires are now dead after 7k miles.

Could someone recommend a good tire to rival the dry grip of the Yoko spec 2s with perhaps more wet grip, I plan on a few track days so a performance tire is preferable.

Any opinions on conti sport 3s? Or Pilot sport 2s?

i've the same size tyres and have just replaced my ultrac sessantas on the front with ultrac centos. only couple of hundred miles in they fell as good as the sessantas (they were good until around 3mm left then shockingly understeery)

I was Impressed with my Parada Spec 2s. I've got Kumho Ecstas now and they're crap in the wet even compared to the Yokos. So don't get them :).

In my previous car, Focus Mk3 with Fords 18" option and the sports suspension I ended up favouring Lassa Impetus Sport after trying various tyres ranging from Toyo T1R's through to Michellin Pilot Sport.

They were middle of the road price (~£100-110 per corner) but looked nice, handled nice and lasted better than the rest.

Just slapped 4 Conti Sport Contact 3's onto the ST 225/40/R18 W, as they seems to get great reviews for the ST.

I think the weight has some baring, I was not impressed with the Goodyears on my RS4 and that weighs as much as Lithuania.
