Well after 6 or 7 years of only wearing Nike Air Max 95's I have finally bought a different trainer after seeing some on this thread.

Arrived today, Nike Air Max 1 'Adventure'

Do people really wear those!?

I notice that too but i got mine before "everyone and their dog" started wearing them. Mines are a year old, still great condition and i love them :)

"everyman and his dog" have been wearing K-swiss in england for a good couple of years now.

I don't really understand why you all like
the stan smith and superstar style so much
for me that style makes your feet look bigger
kind of a charlie chaplin effect if you take my meaning.
Also velcro will never be on my feet mainly because
i'm 35 now and i remember in the 80's velcro trainers were
seen as even worse than woolworths pumps.
My dad always got me the cheapest crapiest brands
such as velcro gymtracks you'd be the laughing stock
of the playground wearing velcro back then.

Yeh, that was back then thought wasn't it.

How much did they cost?

£55, very reasonable price imo for Lacoste, i was going to get some that cost £75 but i preferred the look of the Camdens so i got them instead (bonus that they were cheaper) Very comfortable trainer and look very nice on. First pair of Lacoste's i've owned and im impressed so far.

Oh yeh, got them from JD btw, they've got a great range of trainers. Quite tempted to buy some more.

Maybe these :-

Wow, that's really cheap for Lacoste shoes. I was looking at a pair that were really nice before, but then saw the price...

I can't recommend the Camdens highly enough, might have to get a pair with the silver stitching as shown earlier in the thread.

I thought it was about time this thread had a little boost :)

I need a new pair of trainers as my current Air Max's are at deaths door.
I've mentioned in previous threads about the requirement for a slightly broader trainer.
My current Air Max's for example are a UK11, fit perfectly and are comfy.
I just bought a new pair of Max's in size UK11 and due to the fact they have an "Inner sock" (correct term?) they just won't fit - feel too tight.

Anyway, a couple of people recommended Adidas as a brand to look at.
I want primarily a black trainer as I find they go quite well with jeans - so are good for work and casual wear.
I've found the Adidas Stan Smith 2 Comfort at what I consider a fair price to pay for trainers.
I haven't read every single post in this thread, but I see these recommended by at least one person.
The only thing I'm not sure about is the fact they are fastened via 3 velcro strips rather than laces.
Now it has been a very long time since I had trainers with velcro rather than laces - do they look OK "in the flesh" or does the velcro make them look a little...uuurgh?
