Recommendation for Z77 and 2600k memory

I'm going to order the Asus Z77 Maximus V Extreme tomorrow to go with a 2600k I have that will do 4.7Ghz. The current board I have is failing and the Extreme has some features that are useful to me.

I want to get some better memory than the 1600Mhz Corsair I have, what would people recommend?

well that board will take up to 2800mhz, but I doubt your 2600k could clock as high as 4.7 with that memory profile, so get something around 2133mhz

timings are decently tight and sticks run nicely at 2133mhz in XMP and I could see pushing 2400mhz if I ever wanted it

2800 is impossible on SB. 2133 is about the highest you can go with the IMC on SB. Team Group 2133 as suggested is godd stuff. I personally would look for C9 at 2133 though for added perf.

sorry to hijack this, but im looking at getting some of the 2400 patriot that's just been put on offer to pair up with a 3770k @4.5 on asus p8z77-v. they state it's tested with z77 boards so will I be looking at getting the 2400hmz?

Should be fine yeah 2400 Mhz with Ivy is usually painless.

just out of curiosity, what's the highest speeds you'd be looking at on ivy/z77? without going into extreme cooling that is.

is there a big gain to be had between 1600mhz and 2400 mhz...thinking of getting some 2400mhz before it all goes up!
