Recommendation (handling)

Porsche 924. RWD, transaxle, 2 litre engine, enough power to be fun and thrashable yet not so overpowered you exceed the limits straight away. Cheap parts, easy to work on, plenty of upgrades and available with T&T for about 600 quid.

What you want then is a series one 106 xsi/rallye with a 16v engine in then. Seen plenty of xsi's especially go for 1200-1500 for a nice one. They are about 100 kilo lighter too. Simple breathing mods manifold, decat etc will give a good solid 130+ bhp and in an 850kg car, it won't be shy. Just be sure that it has retained the xsi/rallye box for even quicker acceleration or at least the gti/vts box. Avoid anything with vtr/1.1 boxes as they are horribly long ratios.

Do this if you prefer the older style looks. Drive one and I promise you will not be dissapointed. Handling is exceptional, steering feel and input is incredible. I want mine back so much after looking at them again.

Wanna buy a 40k mile s1 rallye? And a 27k mile 16v engine to go in it? :D
