Recommendation needed for a DivX DVD Player

its a grey area really. installing an r/e bios certainly is totally illegal. courts have rules ps2 modchips illegal . oh but it isnt because its your ps2, right? more countries decided that xbox modchips were illegal (US definately, UK not sure), whatever the intended use. whats microsofts take on this?

well, microsoft had lik-sang shut down for selling xbox mod chips, even if they didnt have a reverse engineered bios on them.


i dont know. whatever the case, the rules clearly state we cant talk about it here. So its all rather pointless. as for the benifits of a modded xbox. i know what they are - i used to own one.
 
My issue with modded xbox's is the hassle, i guess you could buy one pre modded, but when a yamada 6600 is worth about a tenner whats the point?
 
I've never understood why it is illegal for me to modify my own property? Ignoreing the pirating issue as i agree thats not on but simply changing the harware configuration? Who is to say what i can and cannot to to own items.
 
because if i remember correctly, you dont buy the property. you buy the right to use it. the difference is that on purchace, you are in agreement to whatever rules and stipulations that put in that little booklet that comes with the product.
 
If its just a simple divx/xvid player you want I can't really see the point in going through the hastle and expense of setting up a modded xbox to do the job when you can buy a dvd player like a earlier suggested for less money and have it play the divx/xvids just as well if not better than the xbox straight out of the box with no faffin!
