I think my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe is packing up now so im gonna need a new motherboard. Im looking for something relatively cheap as im going to uni soon. I have a budget of about £90. Im looking for something that does its job, reliable, and cheap. Doesn't have to be off overclockers of course. Im not really an overclocker so overclocking features do not matter. Nor does all the little frilly stuff like crossfire and sli. I do however need a LAN port that is the same speed as the one on my current mobo preferably.

Current system:
AMD 4000+ San Diego (Socket 939)
4x1GB PC3200 RAM
nVidia 7900GT (pre-overclocked)
X-Fi Xtreme Music
WD Caviar 250GB (SATA)

Also if i install a new mobo, do i need to reinstall xp and everything?

Thanks in advance!

You will need to re-install windows.

I went from your motherboard to a Gigabyte K8N-e Pro Sli. No idea if you can still get them but its a good reliable motherboard.

Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 (Socket 939 & Upgradable to AM2) AGP & PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-002-AK) £44 :)

works off socket 939, can upgrade to AM2 with DDR2 later without changing the motherboard :D

overclocks well too although i know you dont want it for that.

i have one, currently running opty 148 @ 2.95Ghz (2.2 is stock)

p.s. you can get away with not re installing windows but it can play merry hell with your system performance and stabillity if you dont reinstall :p

In the 18 months I have had my skt 939 system, I have only had 1 mobo and its the DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard.

Its very realiable, and versatile, no problems, the BIOS is very easy to update, and has some great features. The price is very good at the moment over £25 saving since I purchased one myself :)

Should i go for this: Asrock 939SLI-eSATA2 (Socket 939 & Upgradable to AM2) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-001-AK) £52

I don't really need the AGP slot on the other motherboard. This looks nearly the same, if not better. What do you think?

Also i've never heard of this chipset, is it going to cause problems? I normally use NF4

nope as the company that makes that chipset (ULi) is owned by Nvidia ;) and the same company made my boards chipset which according to bench tests keeps up with a lan party  not bad for £40.

Well i decided to go for A8N-SLI Premium from COMPETITOR, which was slightly cheper the OCuK. Didn't like the DFI Lanpart Ultra-D because of the way my Evo 33 CPU woolder would sit on it. It would be blowing air the wrong way as my case is the Antec P180. Wanted a gigabyte but that was sold out. Wasn't sure about the Asrock one as i couldn't find any reviews about it and was missing gigabit LAN. I like to read lots of reviews about PC components i buy to make sure they are worth my money :)

Thanks for your help anyway guys

I'd remove that competitor's name before the mods come after you if I were you :D You should've gone for the ASRock really though as it would've given a more future proof upgrade path but nevermind, the ASUS board should do!

Doesn't the P180 mount the mobo upside down? If this is the case, you may have to alter the passive cooling of the Asus Premium as it is designed for heat to flow UPWARDS from the chipset to cooling fins ABOVE the power regulating components where there's usualy a fan drawing heat out through the PSU housing! ;)
