Hi guys, so basically when it comes to SSD/HDD's, my brain goes dead. I'm looking to upgrade to a SSD, my HDD after 5 years or so is finally starting to show signs of it not being able to cope anymore. So, I have £200 budget, ideally i'd like a 500gb SSD so i can just replace my HDD overall.

My specs are:

PSU: 3XS CX600M BRONZE (600w)
CPU: FX 6300
CPU cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro V2 CPU Cooler (LN28632)
MB:Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P (LN52817)
HDD: Some standard 500g HDD
RAM: 8Gig

The SSD I have in mind is:
Samsung 500GB 840 EVO Basic SSD SATA 3 7mm UltraSlim 2.5" PC/MAC

I was wondering if this card would be fine to work in my system?
Another thing is, I have a few games on my HDD already, with lots of music and photos. Is there a way to directly transfer all the contents of my HDD(including OS) straight to the SSD? I don't want to re-install the games because I have a really crappy download speed.

most SSD's come with cloning software which will transfer everything from 1 drive to another, I know the Samsung ones do but at the moment with the 840 evos there is a issue with some of the drives the speeds slowing after so long which Samsung are trying to fix.

if you want a read there is a thread here

I would go for one of these SSD's

if the SSd doesn't come with any, follow this guide and use the free version

I found that post too, I don't really like the idea of Samsung drives slowing down after a while. I just wanna plop it in, leave it be for another 5 years. So I think I will go for the Crucial MX100 512GB SATA. Thanks mate!

No problem, if you want to go down the Samsung route you could try the newer drives which may not have the issue. the newer drives are the 850s

500GB one below

the other option is a 840 Pro SSD as I think the issue is only effecting the evo rang of their SSDs

but this all depends on your budget really.

the first lot of SSD's are fine
