I'm looking for a new case, preferrably of standard size for standard ATX board. I would like the optical drives to be hidden by a door of some kind and would prefer the case to be of a dark colour. I was looking at the Antec Sonata III, but that is the top of my price range. Also I would like it to include a suitable PSU like the Antec.

Cheers,

Case

Hey

Just been reading your posts, and am indeed myself in limbo as to which case to get, i like the idea of the antec sonata because of the PSU. Can anyone tell me if its worth it, and what the rails are like on the PSU (gotta Colorit one and its pants 10.76 12v rail :S)

TIA

Hey I'm still unsure what to get :(

I want something with good access and good cable management. and everyone says Lian-Li is the way to go, but I have non-matching drives and I want it to look good, that's why I want one with a door on the front. With hte Lian-Li you can get some sort of cover, but what does that cover up, Im assuming it can't cover the tray?

lian li are class

this is what you're looking for:

and here it is fitting in a case:

only thing is they don't come with PSUs, i would suggest a corsair PSU, i have one, dead silent!

You can get drive covers for all Lian Li cases, they cover the drive with a door that opens when you eject the drive

Naud

How do those drive covers work? It is not very clear from that picture.

Pushing the button on the drive cover pushes against the button on the drive and the drive tray pushes the (hinged?)flap open as it extends?

Can they get stuck? :p

but in his first post he said the sonata is top of his price range so how would a lian li without a psu be in it? :P

i have sonata 2 and id say its worth the money, the psu is good quality, with a pci-e lead, theres enough room in the case and its well built, the only negative is the airflow aint all together too great but with a new fan at the front on the hard drive rack it improves it, overall its a good option if you want quality case + decent psu for a nice price.

Yup the only reason the Sonata III is in my basket because of the PSU because others I like for a little less money don't have a PSU and therefore I had to buy one as well ,eamning it costs more than my original choice :P

But i love the idea of them optical drive covers, because thet's what I was most worried about.

Want something with good air circulation, quite spacious and a way to cover opticals, but like I said previously im willing to pay £75 for the sonata which includes the PSU, so need bot hcase and psu for that same price.

Why not look at the Gigabyte 3D Aurora case.
It has a lockable front-panel, its available in Black or Silver.
I have looked at one of them and the built quality is good.
Overclockers sells them.

It's also Aluminium so the pricing will be a bit higher.
They don't come with PSU, but I would recommend buying a separate PSU, usually the PSU's that bundled with cases are generally not very good quality.

I know you on a budget - this is just a recommendation.
Sometimes spending an extra £30 can give so much better value for money. :D

if you get a sonata get an additional fan to mount on the hd rack. Also hoover off the dust filter on the front regularly! We use them at work and they can build up dust fast when the filter gets really dirty.
