Such and such has £XXXX to spend what get?

Noticed that a load of these show up,
thought it might be a bit better to get a kind of Q & A topic for recommendations on how to spend money.

People say there cost restraints and what they need, other people suggest what to buy.

I'll start it off,

I need a new processor, Motherboard and RAM.

Want at least Quad Core proccesor with Clock of at least 2.6 Ghz, and the motherboard to be DDR3.
I have £250 to spend (£280 if I push it).
My target is mid-level gaming Computer.
Any recommendations?

I was thinking of buying the following.

Spec me thread indeed, too many of them float about and I thought would be better to just have one to consolidate them all.

If we could get this thread running it could be useful for many people

I was unaware of any sig size limit,I'll shorten it then.

As you are just wanting the CPU/RAM/Mobo, what are the specifications of the PSU and graphics card you currently have? For gaming performance, you will likely be limited by your graphics card.

As the PC is for gaming, I would suggest the spec you picked, but using this CPU (or this if you can strech a bit). The Atlon X4 is a lovely chip, but for gaming it is not ideal (here is a review).

Well my dad cheaped out and bought a p4 proceccsor with agp graphics from ebay. (the p4 is one of the top of the range p4 still on market with core clock of 3.2 ghz) the video card just happened to be http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-095-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411 The mobo wasn't too bad but it kinda frazzled cos of something burn out, not quite sure what though.
Power supply is 650W btw.
It lasted 2.5 years though so not so bad i suppose.

So I'd like to use the Built-in mobo graphics until i can afford to upgrade to either a GTX 275 or 285 with 1gb inbuilt ram.
I know there are such a thing as AGP to PCI-e converters but the onboard is better so not worth me buying.
