Hi All,

I just got my first iPad, an iPad Mini with Retina display, and I am looking for a good slim case that offers protection for the front and back of the iPad.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good cases?

I already purchased a Moshi VersaCover which is almost the perfect case, I love the size of it and the see through back shell. However, the origami style design is a big drawback as the cover doesn't seem to fold back correctly and isn't the most stable as a stand.

Thanks for any recommendations.

I like the smartcovers from Apple, if you want something cheaper I would get something similar from the amazon/ebay. There thin, feel good and work well.

There's a smart cover/case that apple do... the new ones are really nice.

I never liked the smart covers... the magnets were never the best & it just felt like it got in the way + didn't cover the back of the unit.

Full-covers have usually been too big for me... I don't like drastically doubling or more in most cases) the size of the unit... that's not what the tablet is for and the metal finish feels so nice too.

But... with this latest gen, Apple release a full-cover for them... where the device slides in nicely and it's good and thin, not adding much to the size or weight of the unit + built in "smart" feature where it turns the unit on automatically when you open the cover... it's the best i've found so far and i've been through a few.

Well if you get anything that clips on to the back, make sure it's for the retina version. The older ipad mini is slightly thinner. I had a case that, whichever way I did it, I couldn't clip/snap the forth corner on.

I've got one of the book type covers which does the job but I love using without a cover so much, I might try to get some kind of sleeve to take it out and about.

I use a smart cover with my Mini. Doesn't hide the looks of the device and is easily removed for when I really don't want a cover on.

The one I got has Swees in the bottom corner and was £4.95 on the bay.

It's slim and does the unlock on open thing.

So I ended up opting for the Devicewear Ridge, thanks for the recommendation McBain!

It's an absolutely fantastic case and a decent price as well.

I tried several cases out and this one was easily the best. In terms of functionality the different viewing angles offered and typing angle are all great.

It also doesn't add too much bulk, highly recommended.

Pleasure, glad you like it :)
