I just checked my main computer, and according to my router, im still using my Tiscali login, but im synced at 4096/448, and the downstream margin seems to be flicking between 3 & 6db, with the upstream locked at 18db.

Still havnt had a loss of service so i can change over to Zen though?

##EDIT##
Now the downstream has dropped to 2db. And then flicked to 1db. and then to 0db? Then back to 1db...and then strangly '2147483647db'!!! :p
Its seems to be changing a heck of a lot.

My router disconnected, and ive had to put in my Zen details to get the internet back.
Im synced at, according to my router:
Code:
DSL Status : Up
DSL Modulation Mode : GDMT
DSL Path Mode : FAST
Downstream Rate : 4096 Kbps
Upstream Rate : 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin : 1 db [b]sometimes spikes to higher values, like 5db[/b]
Upstream Margin : 18 db
Downstream Line Attenuation : 57
Upstream Line Attenuation : 31
Downstream Transmit Power : 0
Upstream Transmit Power : 0

According to a few speed tests, im downloading at 1.8Mbps:

I asume that within the next 2 weeks or so that the speed will go up?

Ive just got up this morning, and the downstream rate is now reading as '4288 Kbps', and a few speed tests read as 3.1-3.2Mbps.

Im gonna leave my Laptop downloading a 2.1Gb IBM update while im out today, while my main PC downloads a few Linux torrents.
Just to 'stress' the line.

Just got in from work, and its now reading 4256kbps. So slightly down from before.
Speed checkers report between 1.8 & 3.2mbps, but all with a ping of over 200.

Does this, and the previous information sound about right?

I replaced one of the Microfilters on my extensions with a 'better' one, and for a few hours i got more stable downstream margins, but then it spent a few hours as erratic as before.

Im toying with the idea of buying a ADSL Master Filter & some of those fancy ADSL filters for the extensions. Worth doing?

If you buy a filtered master socket, you don't need filters (unless you're connecting the phone extensions to the unfiltered ADSL side, which defeats the point of the filtered master faceplate).
So, my setup, which has the master socket, then a splitter, which has 2 cables, one goes to a filter with sky/phone in it, the others an extension to a bedroom, which has 2 connectors, ones a filter w/phone, the other the 2nd extension, which goes to my room, where theres filter with phone & router plugged into it.
So i wont need the main filter, just some micro filters?

Would you recommend getting those XF-1e filters (i think thats what they are called), or should i just stick with what i have?

##EDIT##
Just got infrom work, and although MSN Live has disconnected (might have done that anyway, its not the most stable, so it might not be a line disconnect), the DSL speed is stil at 6db/17db, but the speeds gone up to 4480 sync.

Thats a description of my current setup.

If you're going to use a filtered master socket, the idea is you'd do away with all those filters and run extensions for the phone and ADSL side.
I get the impression that with a master socket filter, that i wouldnt be able to use the extensions for phones, just for ADSL. So i'd have to not use the master socket thing, and use normal filters.

If what you've got are crappy then yes. I'd suggest that all that extension wiring's more likely to be a problem though.
Well theres not really an option for me to chance the wiring unfortunatelly.

There's nothing stopping you running extensions, but if you connect the extension to the voice side, you can't connect an ADSL modem to it (well you can, but it won't sync up)

There's nothing stopping you connecting an extension to the ADSL side, then filtering it later. It's just mostly pointless (unless the extension cable is of decent quality).
So basically, theres no point in me having a master socket filter?
