What are the models of memory cards most people are using at the moment? I've just put my 16GB integral ultima card into my D610 to find it's not working, possibly because it was exposed to a rare earth magnet.

I use Sandisk mainly

I have a couple of 32gb & 8gb extremes and some ultras but they're all good

Tbh I don't tend to need the speed of them too much as I don't fire away like a machine gunner lol but I'm sure if a situation arose then they would cope

I've had no issues with Sandisk or Transcend.

Only card I've ever had an issue with is a Kingston SD card which failed, I now avoid that brand.

Sandisk mostly, saying that one card stopped working but thankfully nothing important on it at the time and had to send it to Czech Republic for RMA. Also have one Transcend I got cheap a while back which is going strong in my GoPro 2.

Lexar for me but i wouldn't have any issue buying Sandisk.

Be careful where you buy from though, there are loads of fakes out there.

General consensus is if you buy from Amazon, make sure the order is fulfilled by Amazon and not a random seller from the marketplace. If you're buying from Ebay then good luck :D

I'm wondering if I got a fake

The card fell in half the other day (32gb SanDisk extreme)
Was from play.com

If it is a fake how the hell do you ensure you get a real one?
Any tests I can do?

Some of the fake ones are sold as larger cards and they just have a different sticker on the front so if they're the advertised size when you plug them in then that's always a bonus!

One guy said he had a fake card because the write protect lock was yellow instead of grey and the 'Made In China' was printed on instead of stamped into the plastic but I don't know if that's 100% correct!

Mine performed fine. Both capacity and speed.
I will check the plastic details

Never had any corruption etc

I get corruption on one of mine but it looks legit and was sourced from Amazon themselves and everything else about it seems the way it should so it's hard to tell!

Not just fulfilled but sold entirely by Amazon! "Fulfilled by" just means that it's a third-party company but Amazon are holding stock for them and using their network to deliver it. You can easily get a fake via such sellers.

I've got a bit of a mixture of Sandisk, Lexar, Samsung and Fuji and I've never had a problem with any of them (touch wood)

I thought it just meant that Amazon sourced the stock but since I've never really looked into it, you're probably right lol.
