I've not long posted a thread regarding whether to buy an X1952XT 256 or an X1950Pro IceQ 3 Turbo 512 and I've been swayed towrds the XT. Now, I think I've read somewhere that the recommended power for this graphics card would need come from a decent PSU with 580w and above. Is this correct?
My set up is as follows..

Generic (£25) Mercury 500w PSU
A8R-MVP m/b
939 +3800 @ 2600
Zalmann CNPS8000 CPU Cooler
2x1gig V-Layer A Data PC3200
Powercolour X1600Pro 256 DDR3 Extreme g/c
Samsung 250Gb HDD
Asus DVD writer
4x 90mm fans
1x 120mm fans
1x exhaust
2x cold cathode tubes

Me thinks that I'll need a PSU upgrade before I get my X1950XT

Definitely. I bought a Corsair HX520 for my 1950XT which was about £65 but it has plenty of power, neat modular cables and a 5 year guarantee.

30A on the 12V rails is recommended, I doubt your PSU has that if it was £25.

Nice one. I'm on there now. Really tempted by the X19500XT card but (since signing up to OcUK) have found the knowledge (with the help of you guys) that need I need a descent PSU 1st. Goes without saying really. As I DJ as well, It's a bit like having speakers that need a big amp and getting the best out of them!

Well I should be receiving my Sapphire x1950xt on Friday (I hope the neighbour can take the delivery).

I only have a Qtec 500W Big Fan PSU, so shall be interesting to see what happens with that.

Its been my reliable old faithful during my athlon overclocking and volt modded 6800LE overclocked card, so with luck it will be enough :D Qtec are dead cheap but its what I was prepared to spend at the time just to get some peace and quiet from the fans. I have never ever heard the temp controlled fan spin up to indicate high heat so I reckon it will be ok.

Will report back on friday :D

My generic 500w is handling my set up nicely atm but would loke a PSU that actually does what is says on the tin (as it were). Looks like I can get a good price on the OCZ 600GXS inc delivery which isn't too far off the Corsair HX520 (inc del.). Hmm...not sure now..........OCZ is SLi certified (ready)...does this include Crossfire? (Does this actually matter as I'm ATi??)
