Recommended stripe size

I am about to rig up two samsung 750gb drives in raid 0.

I will make two 250Gb partitions for the operating systems (dual boot) and 1 Tb partition for data.

What stripe size should I use please?

Opinion varies a bit, if your usage is mainly multimedia then a larger stripe, say 128k would work fine, but if more general usage and gaming then 64k is more appropriate as far as I'm aware.

64k for gaming, 128 for a file server

For "general usage" (ie. general usage of an OS) I found that 32KB to be the best size, this was after trying different sizes from 8KB through to 128KB...

No surprise there then.

Since part of my raid drives is going to be for the OS and quite a bit of the rest will will be games although there will be a lot of multimedia, I think I will settle on 64k for a compromise.

go 32 or 64, apart from benching you won't care about the increased speeds on large files.
