Recommended stud finder for walls

Hi guys. Can anyone recommend me a good quality stud finder for an internal plaster board walls in my house that actually work well!
I have been close to buying a few on ebay for 30ish quid and people moan saying they dont work.
So have any of you forum users used a stud finder with success. The other half has a few jobs lined up for me over xmas so need to get this asap

Bosch Detector DMF 10 Zoom, use it for work and its brilliant detector.

Having worked for a big DIY chain I can confidently say don't buy the black & decker ones. In fact don't buy anything of that make, stick with Bosch.

Use a hammer. Once you've found one they'll be around 400mm centres or if it's old 16".
